What Is Kratom?

Kratom is a large tree originating from Southeast Asia. Historically, its leaves are used as a stimulant by farmers. All-time people used it to treat hypertension, cough, and many other diseases.

Fresh leaf of this tree is chewed by workers to achieve a stimulating effect and diminish fatigue. Dried leaves are usually brewed as a hot tea, also it can be used as a powder or extracted with water, which is then evaporated into a resin that fits for consumption.

Those who use Kratom as an organic antidepressant attribute to it stimulating, energizing properties.

Kratom also contains:

  •  alkaloids, which are hard immunomodulators and reduce blood pressure
  • epicatechin - a powerful antioxidant that dark chocolate generally contains and closely related to EGCG, which gives green tea its beneficial properties.

Kratom causes division because of the psychoactive alkaloids mitragynine and 7-hydroxy mitragynine, which is 10 times more strong than morphine. In this way, it is so important not to exceed the admissible limit value.

The decision to ban Kratom was more likely to be corrupted, which lead to raise up its street value. P. Sapcharoen, head of the National Institute of Thai Traditional Medicine, which is located in Bangkok, made a conclusion about Kratom “can be advised for relieving opiate dependence and for patients suffering from depression." And the International Institute of Thai Drug Control gave a report about “Kratom is an integral part of Southern Thai culture” and, besides, “The ban on Kratom is unnecessary and unproductive in this decade.”
